Step 1 Measure Your Entryway
- Use a tape measure to determine the height (A) and width (B) of your entryway hallways and doors.
- Measure the entry clearance/depth (C) to ensure that there is enough space for large items to be carried in and out.
- If there are any walls or turns directly past the entry door, repeat the measurement process to ensure that there is enough space to maneuver large items.
If an elevator is required to reach your apartment or condo, measure the elevator doorway and interior to ensure that items can be safely transported.
Step 2 Measure Your Furniture
- For sofas, measure the width (D) and diagonal depth (E).

Step 3 Compare Dimensions
Sofa width must be less than entryway dimension A
Or C
Diagonal sofa depth must be less than entryway B
Diagonal height must be less than entryway dimension A
Or C
Depth must be less than entryway dimension B
Quick Furniture Fit Checklist
Before scheduling your delivery, make sure you can check off these boxes:
- [ ] Is the furniture width less than the doorway width?
- [ ] Is the diagonal depth of the sofa less than the door frame width?
- [ ] Are there any low-hanging light fixtures or tight hallway corners in the path?
- [ ] Do you have a 2-inch "buffer" on all measurements for peace of mind?
